HMA Processing System

From Farm to Fork

HMA safeguards halal integrity at every step—so you can trust what you bring to your table. The Halal Monitoring Authority understands the complexity of today’s food industry and has developed a comprehensive, three-part inspection system designed to protect the integrity of halal at every stage. Our oversight begins at the source — abattoirs, slaughterhouses, and manufacturers — continues through the processors and distributors, and extends all the way to the retailers, including butchers and food outlets.

HMA’s monitoring process ensures that poultry, meat, and other products are inspected from the moment they enter the facility, through slaughter, processing, and packaging, right up to the point they reach your local store. Our clear labeling and trusted certification are in place to support you in making confident, informed halal choices for you and your family.

Step 1. Slaughter Houses
HMA inspectors are physically present on-site to supervise slaughter operations and ensure all Islamic requirements are followed.
  • Carcasses are tagged, documented, and tracked under the supervision of inspectors to ensure full traceability.
  • Inspectors monitor facility hygiene and ensure no cross-contamination with non-halal products or equipment.

Step 2. Processing Plants
HMA inspectors are stationed at processing facilities to oversee cutting, grinding, marinating, packaging, and all handling stages.
  • They verify that all ingredients, additives, and incoming products meet halal standards.
  • Inspectors ensure strict segregation between halal and non-halal materials, conducting routine checks for compliance.

Step 3. Certified Outlets
HMA inspectors carry out regular and sometimes unannounced inspections at halal-certified stores, restaurants, and home-based operations.
  • They confirm that all products come from approved halal sources and remain uncontaminated.
  • Inspectors review staff practices, labeling, storage, and handling procedures to ensure ongoing halal integrity.

Step 4. Muslim Consumers
Consumers receive products and meals that have been monitored at every stage by trained HMA inspectors.
  • HMA provides a verified list of certified outlets, supported by rigorous inspector oversight throughout the supply chain.
  • Transparent certification marks and community engagement help consumers trust the halal authenticity of what they purchase.
